Description

Studies of word recognition have demonstrated effects of morphological complexicity and contextual diversity on responses to signle words. Particularly, lexical decision and naming responses are not predicted by word frequency, but by contextual diversity and semantic distinctiveness. These findings challange conventional psycholinguistic approaches, such as PDP and DRC models, and reflect that there is a need to elucidate to what extent how inter-word and intraword information influence the process of word recognition and word learning. The proposed project aims to address this issue by establishing an interdisyplineary network of research institutes, including local and international orgnizations in fielded such as linguistics, cognitive neuroscience, and computational science. The ultimate goal is to create a plaform of computational neurolinguistic studies.
