Project Details

Description

Taiwan’s future energy transition targets are based on reducing coal-fired, increasing natural gas, promoting green energy, and achieving nuclear-free to ensure a stable power supply and to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions. The unstable characteristics of renewable energy in supply, quality, and cost are caused by different climates and regions. Therefore, while the proportion of renewable energy in the domestic power generation is increasing by years, providing a stable, clean, high efficiency and flexible renewable energy power generation technology through the installation of a small Megawatt (MW) scale bioenergy demonstration and verification site is the objective of this project. Thus, based on the achievement established in the previous Green Energy Technology Joint Research Program, we integrated our former R&D team the non-profit corporation and industry partners including MIRDC, CHEM Inc., and LSPI Co. to apply for “Advanced Intelligent Circular Economy with Combined Cooling, Heat & Power (CCHP) System” (ACEpower) to jointly develop the flexible decentralized gasification-based power generation system with combined cooling, heat & power technology, and increase the overall energy efficiency of utilization of biomass based waste. It is expected to accelerate the development of the domestic biomass energy industry, and promote our innovative technology to the Southeast Asian market for achieving the goal of sustainable development of the circular economy.Consequently, four sub-projects are contained in this integrated research project to achieve the objectives mentioned above: 1. Advanced gasification of biomass-based waste integrated with microgrids;2. Medium and high temperature acid gas purification process;3. High-efficiency refrigeration and waste heat power cycle system; and4. Flexible hot swapping battery energy storage and power generation system.
