Description
Schedule delays in Taiwan’s public construction project are normally happened.Although the requirements and simple specifications for schedule submittals in common construction contracts are clear, the client might review received schedule submittals with a mere formality. This situation results in that the contractors do not prepare the schedule at their best, and the schedule is not sufficient to be a good basis for disputes resolution in case of schedule disputes appear. A good schedule is one of powerful tools to manage the progress of a project, and is the necessity of schedule disputes resolution. Therefore, to provide a solution that is capable of making schedule reasonable and correct will make huge contribution to Taiwan’s public construction domain. Based on the outcomes of theses supervised by the project principal investigator and the schedule networks collected from construction industry in Taiwan, this study will follow the research outcomes related to schedule development and review principles in other counties and then propose the principles suitable for Taiwan’s environments. After reviewing the principles by domain schedule experts, this study will develop an automatic schedule review system that is useful for schedule development and review. With the tool developed in this study, the contractors can check the completeness of their schedules before submittals by themselves and the client can review the received schedules. Hopefully, the study outcomes can improve the quality of schedule development and review, and increase the performance of schedule management in the future.
