Description

One or two scholars will be the conveners of each division of the Department ofNatural Sciences and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Science andTechnology. The tasks of conveners aim to provide and promote the scientificvision and programs including(1) Planning the future development direction and exploring prospective researchtopics;(2) Assisting in the academic review of research projects and award applications;(3) Reviewing the applications for international conferences and applications forinviting international scholars;(4) Attending the MOST conveners meeting; and(5) Planning and promotion of related affairs.In order to promote above tasks, the Geological Science division currentlyselected and will mainly focus on the following six topics:(1) Imaging the seismic cycle and deep fluid with sophisticatedly equippedearthquake observatory;(2) Unseen fault deformation revealed by laboratory-scaled technologyinnovation;(3) Deep time perspective into the dynamics and interactions between thesediments and landscape in coastal environments;(4) Extreme events archived in marine geological records;(5) Modulation of chemical weathering and erosion on carbon emission andsequestration;(6) Alpine hydrogeology in tropical and subtropical terranes impacted by changesof climate and land use.
