Project Details
Description
The relative arrival times and waveforms of those teleseismic earthquakes as observed by the linear array will be used to image a high resolution 2-D velocity structures of upper mantle beneath Central Luzon, in the hope of being able to determine interactions of the two slabs. Similar analyses have been conducted for linear array in Taiwan. The observed teleseismic waveforms are also suitable to study the variations of crustal thickness using receiver function methods. Results of broadband stations in Mindoro island of earlier projects are obtained. Broadband instruments are readily available and the selection of sites and constructions of stations will be mostly done in 2015. The main tasks of this project is to transport instruments to the Philippines for deployments. Collaborations between Taiwan and the Philippines to conduct the research proposal will further enhance bilateral relationships.
